ZCash is a cryptocurrency that’s aimed at promoting privacy. It’s based on the Equihash algorithm, and this is an asymmetric memory-hard Proof of Work type that was based on the generalized birthday problem. It needs high amounts of RAM which is an approach that makes ASIC use ineffective.

ZCash uses zero-knowledge Succinct Non-interactive Arguments of Knowledge (zk-SNARKs) to make sure that all data in transit, whether that be details about the sender, receiver, or amount, is fully encrypted, with no chance of double-spending ever recurring. Only the time of transaction is ever revealed. The privacy of all other information is strictly maintained too.
